Team — This is huge news.

But let’s take a step back and get the bigger picture: Donald Trump is the most anti-free speech President of my lifetime.

Yes, for all of MAGA’s talk about freedom and liberty, Trump’s administration is the most authoritarian we’ve seen. Since taking office again in January he has launched an all out assault on the free press, just like the autocrats and dictators of the 20th century.

He purged the White House press pool and ensured that only conservative news outlets can ask him questions.

He defunded public news outlets like PBS and NPR that report the facts instead of his alternative reality.

He sued CBS over bogus claims, and CBS capitulated by settling the lawsuit and firing Stephen Colbert after he criticized both the President and the settlement deal.

Just last week he filed a defamation lawsuit against the New York Times, demanding $15 billion in damages. He filed a similar lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal this summer for reporting on his connections to Jeffrey Epstein.

Now we’ve learned that he directed the FCC to threaten Disney/ABC until they pulled Jimmy Kimmel — another critic of the president — off the air.

“We can do this the easy way or the hard way.” That’s what the FCC chair said to Disney, just hours before they buckled under the pressure.

This is one of the most corrupt moves we’ve seen from Trump, and a dangerous precedent for our nation. Using the power of the federal government to silence your critics in the media is a clear sign of our descent into fascism.

But we just learned some breaking news: Jimmy Kimmel will return to his usual time tomorrow night, after a massive public outcry towards Disney and in defense of free speech.

Friend, if Trump is allowed to dictate what media outlets can and can’t say, we will quickly end up in a situation where any criticism of this president is met with fierce punishment by the government.

Jimmy Kimmel coming back on air is a huge step in the right direction. It sends a signal that the American people will not stand for the news media being muzzled into submission.

But the truth is that with Republicans controlling all three branches of government, we have no choice but to build a massive grassroots movement to defeat them at the ballot box if we are to defend our freedom of speech and press.

The future of our democracy is on the line. Will we become a dictatorship where the President’s party silences all critics? Or will we defeat these far-right MAGA tyrants before they destroy our time-honored Constitutional rights?
