Just hours ago, I watched the PA House Judiciary Committee vote to advance four lifesaving gun violence prevention bills .
This is a major milestone worth celebrating, and it didn’t happen by accident. Today’s progress was possible because advocates like you keep stepping up and making it known that Pennsylvanians strongly support action to end gun violence .
Together, we showed up and were a visible presence in Harrisburg today ahead of the votes. Statewide, more than 1,600 of you sent email messages to committee members urging them to advance the gun violence prevention bills.

I’m huddling with our team right now about the next steps for these monumental bills . I promise you’ll be the first to know what's next, but today I want you to recognize that the result of your commitment is that these bills are getting closer to becoming laws and saving lives in PA:
* Universal Background Checks (HB 1593) closes a loophole related to the unlicensed private sale of assault rifles without a background check.
* Extreme Risk Protection Orders (HB 1859) allows the temporary removal of firearms from someone who is a clear threat to themselves or others.
* Ban on Machine Gun Conversion Devices (HB 1866) ends the spread of small, cheap devices that allow a handgun to fire up to 800 bullets in a minute.
* Ban on Undetectable Firearms (HB 1099) bans the manufacturing, sale, and possession of undetectable firearms, including 3D-printed firearms.
