Friend, it's Andrew. When you pass over ‼️100 laws‼️ in the state senate, you realize pretty quickly that no two bills are ever truly the same.
Some bills might be all about making our streets safer by reducing traffic deaths. Some of them might focus on investing in CUNY and making our colleges both better and more affordable. Some of them are going to help protect kids online or put new regulations on Big Tech companies.
But there's one thing every single bill I pass has in common: It supports my vision for a better New York that is fair, safe, affordable, and gives everyone an opportunity to thrive. Whether I'm in Albany or Brooklyn, I'm fighting to make sure everyday people like you have a voice in the State Senate. I need your help to keep being that voice.
My team and I are counting on NY's public financing program to power our next campaign, but first we need to qualify. We're on track, but I'm counting on your help. Can you chip in $5, $15, or any amount to help me unlock matching funds today? [[link removed]]

Friend, I grew up in Brooklyn with two hardworking parents who taught me the importance of philoxenia , the Greek word for "love of strangers" .
That principle guided me into my longstanding passion for service, which began after Superstorm Sandy tore through our community. I co-founded Bay Ridge Cares, an organization that prepared 25,000 meals for victims after the storm.
I was first elected in 2018, and immediately went to work in Albany on policies that have a direct, positive impact on our state's working families. In the years since, I've passed more than 100 bills into law, including:
1️⃣ Laws to give New York City more power to set safer speed limits near schools and extend the life-saving speed camera program.
2️⃣ A measure to secure the lowest middle-class tax rate in over 70 years while expanding the child tax credit to help families stay in New York
3️⃣ A first-in-the-nation law to help protect young people from the dangers of social media and ensure Big Tech can’t prioritize profits over children’s well-being.
Friend, our work is never over. My team and I are still working on making college more affordable, improving our public transit systems, and supporting like-minded candidates who are on the ballot this year.
But to keep things moving, I'm counting on the help of my neighbors. NYC's Matching Program allows your small-dollar donation to be matched up to 12X, but first, we have to qualify. Can you help me get there by chipping in $5, $15, or even $25 today? [[link removed]]

Andrew Gounardes is a champion for the working class and middle class families that are the backbone of New York.
He’s passed more than 100 bills into law, including legislation to protect kids from harmful social media algorithms, close a loophole in the state’s wage theft law, strengthen payment protections for freelance workers, expand the life-saving school zone speed camera program, guarantee family death benefits for public workers who died from Covid-19, and help secure and expand benefits for 9/11 responders.
He is working to help make college more affordable for New York students, dismantle the legal protections that allow perpetrators of workplace harassment and discrimination to prey on vulnerable workers, tackle the housing crisis by making it easier to build more affordable housing, and as a daily transit rider, fighting to improve the reliability, accessibility, and accountability of the MTA for all New Yorkers.
Andrew and his wife Melanie live in Bay Ridge, where they are raising their two sons.
Andrew is a graduate of local parochial and public schools, Hunter College - CUNY, and the George Washington University Law School.
