In case you didn’t know, John, September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month.
Here’s the reality: Firearm suicide claims the lives of nearly 26,000 people in America every year, an average of 71 people per day. And that’s just people in general.
For youth in America, firearm suicide is even deadlier. Firearm suicide makes up over one-third of all youth gun deaths and nearly half of all suicides among young people.
This is not inevitable. Suicide is preventable. Gun violence is preventable. But our leaders are failing us. They consistently choose gun lobby profits over our lives by refusing to pass secure storage laws, refusing to fund mental health care, and refusing to keep guns out of the hands of people in crisis.
We don’t have time for their excuses. Every day without action, lives are lost.
That’s why March For Our Lives is fighting back. We’re organizing, demanding life-saving laws, and building a world where young people can grow up safe.
We have fought to protect resources like the 988 Crisis Hotline, but the Trump Administration is hacking away at its funding & effectiveness.
But we need you with us.
John, chip in $20.25 or whatever you can today. Let’s stop gun suicide before it steals more lives. We can all do our part.
In solidarity,
Team March For Our Lives
