MAINE/NEW HAMPSHIRE - A guardrail replacement project expected to last until November is now complete allowing for an early reopening of the roadway impacted. The Maine Department of Transportation initially scheduled daytime closures of Route 113 through the White Mountain National Forest from September 8 to November 14 to facilitate the project.

Thanks to the efforts of CA Newcomb & Sons, who added additional crews to the project, work progressed significantly faster than anticipated. The guardrail replacement was completed on Friday, September 19, 2025. All traffic restrictions along Route 113 in the towns of Stow, Batchelders Grant Township, and Gilead were lifted on Saturday, September 20.

MaineDOT appreciates the public's patience and cooperation during this project and is pleased to reopen this scenic route ahead of schedule.
