Friend, the Michigan Democratic Party supports Democrats up and down the ballot because every office matters, and our local clerk’s offices are some of the most important because clerks administer our elections.

This November, Southfield faces a critical City Clerk election that needs the attention of the whole state. Let me explain.

Wynett Guy, Wynett Guy, a U.S. Navy veteran and a dedicated public servant with direct experience in the Clerk’s office, is running a write-in campaign against a MAGA Republican conspiracy theorist with no qualifications and a long record of cutting corners.

With an open seat in the U.S. Senate and races for Michigan’s Governor, Secretary of State, and Attorney General on the ballot in 2026, this clerk’s office race is critical.

Here’s the challenge: Wynett Guy’s opponent worked to kick her off the ballot after she collected the required number of signatures. Her opponent would rather block the voices of Southfield voters than earn the votes.

Write-in campaigns are tough. We need to reach voters with clear instructions so they know to write in Wynett Guy’s name correctly on their ballot this November. Southfield is a Democratic stronghold (the city delivered more than 75% of its votes to Joe Biden in 2020) but turnout in municipal elections is low. That’s exactly how Republicans win races they should never come close to winning.

We can’t let it happen here. And we need your help to stop it.
