In this first ad, Arthur Bernard, father of one of the 18 people killed in the Lewiston shooting, shares his story.
Arthur said goodbye to his son after an evening out at a local bar, only to receive the devastating call three minutes later that his son’s life had been taken. The shooter had shown warning signs, but Maine’s laws didn’t give families or authorities the tools to intervene.
This tragedy could have been prevented. Extreme Risk Protection Orders (ERPOs) give courts the power to temporarily remove firearms from someone in crisis, providing a critical opportunity to save lives.
This ad marks a significant step in Safe Schools, Safe Communities’ work to build support in the final weeks of the election. Now, they need our help keeping up the momentum while voters are paying attention.
This November, Maine voters will have the chance to vote Yes on 2 and pass life-saving ERPO laws that give families and authorities the power to intervene before tragedy strikes. Will you donate to Maine Gun Safety Coalition today to help ensure this ad reaches every voter ahead of Election Day? Every dollar is a life that could be saved. [[link removed]]
