Dear Georgian,

Last week, the House of Representatives passed a Continuing Resolution (CR) to keep the government funded and operational until November 21st, while Congress continues to work through the remaining appropriation bills. This legislation is a clean CR without political gamesmanship and most importantly avoids a government shutdown at the end of this month. It allows our federal agencies to continue providing services to our servicemembers, veterans, seniors, farmers, and those that depend on them.

House Republicans are committed to preventing any kind of government shutdown to ensure servicemembers continue to be paid to defend our country and the government and its entities remain fully operational for those that depend on them.

We also celebrated the United States Air Force's 78th birthday last week. We are blessed to have two major Air Force installations in our district, Robins Air Force Base and Moody Air Force Base, and our community is thankful for all they do in defense of our nation.

As always, my staff and I are here to help. If you need assistance with a federal agency or have comments or concerns to share with me, please do not hesitate to call my Warner Robins, Tifton, or Washington, D.C. offices. To receive frequent updates, I encourage you to visit my website, like my Facebook page, follow me on YouTube, and follow me on Twitter.

Keep reading for the full update.

Sincerely,

Examining the State of the Specialty Crop Industry

Last week, we held a hearing in the House Agriculture Committee to examine the special crop industry in America. We were able to hear from industry experts on how Congress can better work with our fruit and vegetable growers to produce the food our country depends on.

Agriculture labor continues to be a top issue for our specialty crop growers in Georgia. Our panelists joined me in highlighting the country-wide desire to create a more workable H-2A program. We also discussed how Congress can better address the needs of the industry so that our growers and producers are supported.

Receiving the National Association of Professional Insurance Agent's 2025 Legislator of the Year Award

Last Tuesday, I was honored to be recognized as the Legislator of the Year by the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents.

Awards like this one remind me of how the work we are doing in Congress is directly felt back home. I am humbled and honored by this recognition and I appreciate all of the work that our Professional Insurance Agents are doing.

Remembering Charlie Kirk

Throughout the week, the House of Representatives honored the life of Charlie Kirk, a great American, family man, and a stalwart man of God.

On Monday, we held a candlelight vigil in the Capitol Rotunda. On Friday, H.Res. 719, honoring the life and legacy of Charlie, passed the House with my support by a vote of 310-58-38. Charlie was taken from this world far too soon, but he made a permanent impact on our country through his incredible work with young people, and his proclamation of the Gospel.
