Hi John,

The first days of fall always bring a moment to pause to reflect on how far we’ve come, and to take a deep breath before the work ahead.

The air’s getting crisper, the days a little shorter, football season is in full swing, but what doesn’t change is my belief in what’s possible when we come together to build something better.

I’ve lived through both the hard parts of our history, and the extraordinary progress we’ve made. I know we still have work to do, but I also know this: we all believe in peace, in fairness, and in caring for each other.

I carry that belief with me every day in Congress. I won’t pretend this work is easy, but I do believe it’s worth doing. And no matter how divided things may seem, I still believe in the power of hope, service, and showing up for one another. 

This new season is a reminder that change is always possible, and that progress takes all of us.
