Hi team, it's DSCC Vice Chair Adam Schiff. If you don't have much time, I'll keep it brief: Donald Trump and his cronies are blatantly assaulting free speech and eviscerating the First Amendment. Jimmy Kimmel is just the latest example -- but he won't be the last.
Trump is trying to build a country where if you criticize him or MAGA, the government will come after you, no matter who you are and what you do for a living.
That's why I've come to personally ask: Will you send $5 to the DSCC to elect Senate Democrats who will hold Trump accountable for his attacks on the First Amendment?
You saw the news: Jimmy Kimmel was taken off the air after Donald Trump's FCC demanded he be punished for comments made during a comedic monologue.
But make no mistake: This is an escalating and accelerating trend. Before his cronies got Jimmy pulled down, Trump sued numerous news outlets like CBS, ABC, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, and he aggressively defunded NPR and PBS. He's even called for journalists and critics to be prosecuted, just for telling the truth about him.
You might remember that I'm one of those critics Trump is threatening to jail -- and the list of others is long and growing.
There is simply no limit to what Trump and his allies are willing to do to silence his critics, stop accountability and punish free speech.
The only way we can safeguard the First Amendment is by standing strong and holding Trump accountable -- and to do that, we MUST take back the Senate from his enablers.
