TELL CONGRESS:
Reject Unilateral and Unconditional Recognition of Palestinian Statehood

Take only 45 seconds to make an impact.
As the U.K., Canada, Australia and other nations reward Hamas by unilaterally recognizing a Palestinian state, some in Congress want the U.S. to follow suit.

Some senators are pushing an anti-Israel resolution to unilaterally and unconditionally recognize a Palestinian state, horrifically rewarding Hamas for the October 7 massacre just weeks before the two-year anniversary of the genocidal attack.

Meanwhile, a group of House members is pushing an anti-Israel bill to block critical arms sales to Israel that our ally needs to defend its families.
TAKE 45 SECONDS: Contact your members of Congress and urge them to oppose recognition of a Palestinian state and efforts to block arms to Israel.

Background:
-
Senators Jeff Merkley (D-OR), Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), Tim Kaine (D-VA), Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Peter Welch (D-VT), Tina Smith (D-MN), Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), and Mazie Hirono (D-HI) introduced a resolution urging the president to unilaterally and unconditionally recognize a Palestinian state.

-
This is a victory for Hamas: Hamas leaders have celebrated efforts to unilaterally recognize a Palestinian state, describing them as "the fruits of October 7." It would turn October 7 into a proverbial Palestinian Independence Day and send a dangerous message that terrorism and violence are the path to progress.

-
Furthermore, this effort effectively abandons the hostages by not unequivocally demanding Hamas first free the hostages and disarm. American pressure should be singularly focused on increasing the pressure on Hamas to immediately free the hostages and disarm, enabling this terrible war to end.

-
The resolution also rewards an unchanged Palestinian Authority (PA) that is rife with corruption, continues to reward terrorism, has not had a Presidential election in 21 years, and doesn’t have security control of its major population centers in the West Bank, let alone Gaza.

-
Finally, the resolution undermines direct talks between Israel and the Palestinians and harms future negotiations by removing a tangible bargaining chip from the table in exchange for a symbolic gesture that will do nothing to change the situation on the ground.

-
In the House, the "Block the Bombs Act" would restrict the sale of critical arms to Israel that our ally relies on to defend its people from Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis and Iran.

-
This bill sends a message to the mutual enemies of America and Israel that the United States cannot be counted on to stand with our ally, emboldening them to continue attacking the Jewish state.

The mission of AIPAC is to encourage and persuade the U.S. government to enact specific policies that create a strong, enduring and mutually beneficial relationship with our ally Israel.
