Just 10 miles west of Portland and adjacent to the beloved Forest Park, the Tualatin Mountains are a favorite destination for local residents to hike, explore, and experience Oregon’s natural beauty. In May, TPL acquired 3,110 acres of this forestland and transferred the property to Oregon State University, opening public access to trails that had long been restricted.

Now, this forest will serve as a living laboratory for researchers, Tribes, agencies, and community partners. The knowledge gained here will help protect landscapes across Oregon and beyond — advancing work in forest resilience, habitat restoration, sustainable timber production, and wildfire risk reduction.
