Emmanuel Memorial Episcopal Church is seeking a faithful and promising transitional deacon/priest who would value a period of curacy in preparation for becoming a rector, associate rector, priest-in-charge, or chaplain. We are a parish committed to the 1979 Book of Common Prayer, with Sunday morning Mass at the heart of our spiritual life. We are blessed with a rich musical tradition, and warm hospitality runs through the whole of our life together. We seek to grow together in faith, hope, and love, as well as to grow numerically.
We are also open to appointing a seasoned priest as associate rector, and the responsibilities and compensation of the post would be adjusted accordingly.

A Little Info about our Parish and Region
Emmanuel is a healthy and well-resourced congregation in the Episcopal Diocese of Springfield. The area is a great place to live and raise a family, as well as build a career. Residents of Champaign-Urbana enjoy a high quality of life, and the area abounds with educational and cultural riches, as well as natural beauty. A major part of the local population is made up of students at the University of Illinois, a top-tier public university, marked by strong teaching and research, as well as some success in the Big Ten Conference as the Fighting Illini.

Emmanuel is preparing to adopt a new strategic plan for the coming years, focusing on the growth of our congregation and its ministries, particularly among young adults and families. We are already expanding Sunday services, and looking at opportunities to invest in the future.

The congregation is welcoming and supportive, and it is an ideal parish for a curate to be trained or for an associate rector to gain experience.
