UNT Student Harassed, Threatened For Defending Charlie Kirk
- After opposing in-class celebrations of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, a University of North Texas student says she is being harassed and threatened—and the university police are not protecting her. Robert Montoya has the story.
- In a widely circulated video, Mary-Catherine Hallmark was manning a Turning Point table on the UNT campus when a student began collecting materials and tearing them up as he said, "You all should burn in hell." Previously, Hallmark was told to leave class when she asked fellow students to stop celebrating Kirk's assassination. She and her family have said university leadership is refusing to take action to protect Turning Point members from being targeted on campus.
- In a letter to Gov. Greg Abbott, Republican State Reps. Andy Hopper, Ben Bumgarner, Richard Hayes, and Mitch Little are demanding "swift action" from UNT.

Attorney General Investigates Political Pressure Against TPUSA Club
- Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has announced that his office will launch an investigation into leftwing political pressure being applied to teachers at a Spring Branch high school regarding a Turning Point USA chapter. Michael Wilson has the story.
- Moms for Liberty Harris County exposed a post by Democrat activist Nathalie Herpin calling on members of a Facebook group to target teachers who might be sponsoring the student organization. Herpin falsely claimed Charlie Kirk's assassination was organized by a "far-right" rivalry. (The murderer was apparently driven by transgender ideology.)
Finalist for Texas A&M Victoria President Has Extensive DEI History
- As the sole presidentialm finalist for the newly inaugrated Texas A&M Victoria campus, Christian Hardigree has a long history of supporting left-wing causes. Adam Cahn reviews Hardigree's resume.
- Currently serving as the regional chancellor of the University of South Florida St. Petersburg campus, Hardigree has said she wanted to sustain the momentum behind the school's diversity, equity, and inclusion programming. While serving as the dean of the School of Hospitality at Metropolitan State University of Denver, Hardigree received the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award by INSIGHT Into Diversity for seven years.
- The Texas A&M System did not respond to questions before publication about Hardigree’s vetting process. In a statement announcing her selection, Regent Chairman Bob Albritton called Hardigree “exactly the kind of leader who can help Texas A&M-Victoria thrive.”
Texas Signs Voter Roll Crosscheck Agreements
- Texas has established an interstate voter registration crosscheck program with nine states, expanding efforts to maintain accurate voter rolls and ensure secure elections. As Erin Anderson reports, the agreements are intended to enhance election security.
- Secretary of State Jane Nelson said the agreements will strengthen efforts to prevent duplicate registrations.
- The states joining Texas in the crosscheck program include Alabama, Arkansas, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Ohio, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia.
IDEA School Admin Arrested for Sex Crimes Involving Student
- For a second time this year, an IDEA Public Schools administrator is accused of sex crimes involving a student.
- Shonterrich Jeremaine Johnson, 29, was arrested and charged with improper relationship between educator and student (a second-degree felony) and online solicitation of a minor (a third-degree felony). Johnson worked as an assistant principal of instruction at the IDEA Parmer Park charter school in Austin, which serves about 1,300 K-12 students.
- Students at the school reported Johnson for sending sexually explicit text messages to a male former student. According to IDEA, Johnson is no longer employed by the school.
- In March, Aaron Freeman—an assistant principal at IDEA Round Rock Tech—was arrested for indecency with a child by sexual contact after he was accused of inappropriately touching a female student.
