John,
Hyundai, the world’s third largest automaker, is desperately trying to promote itself as a green leader. But behind its glossy PR campaigns is a dirty, coal-fueled supply chain and a production line of polluting cars.
The automaker claims to be a leader on electric vehicles but more than 93% of its sales are gas guzzlers or polluting fuel engines.
And it's pushing these cars particularly hard into Global South markets like India, a country already feeling the deadly impacts of the climate crisis. Just last year more than 700 people died because of extreme heatwaves.
But if we can expose Hyundai’s greenwashing and create a huge global outcry the automaker will have no choice but to stop fueling the climate crisis and go green.
Will you sign the petition? Tell Hyundai: stop fueling the climate crisis, clean up your supply chain and transition to 100% electric vehicles.
Hyundai is in the slow lane when it comes to supply chain sustainability, especially steel. Instead of using sustainable steel in its vehicles, the automaker continues to use dirty steel. The communities living next to Hyundai’s dirty steel factories are breathing in deadly air pollution which is causing hundreds of premature deaths and billions in healthcare costs.
The car giant is also lying about how much it’s actually polluting. Last year Hyundai was exposed for underreporting the emissions per vehicle by a whopping 113%.
It's time for Hyundai to u-turn now and actually drive change across industrial supply chains like steel, before it's too late for our planet.
Tell Hyundai: clean up your supply chain and transition to 100% electric vehicles.
We’ve put pressure on automakers before and won. Last year people from all around the world demanded Toyota Australia stop its dirty lobbying for fossil fuels and together with allies we forced the car company out of the way so the government could regulate vehicle pollution. It was a win for the planet, our health and will help make EVs more affordable.
Let’s do it again.
