I know I’m reaching out to you on your Sunday evening so I’ll get right to the point: I’m asking for a contribution to my reelection campaign to help me prepare for my toughest and most expensive reelection campaign yet.

If you have a minute to hear me out, I’d like to explain why:

Friday night, Donald Trump had a complete meltdown – and went directly after Senator Tim Kaine and me, and our record delivering for the Commonwealth. He called us “bad news,” “bad guys,” and “bad senators” who “do a terrible job for the people of Virginia.”

Look, I’ll deal with Trump’s bullying and name calling any day.

I’ll continue to call out his administration when their actions hurt your freedoms, your pocket books, or your safety. And I sure as hell will never let up the fight for a better path forward for Virginia.

But here’s what I need to worry about: Donald Trump’s allied super PACs are watching – and the more I speak out against the Trump administration, the more I need to be prepared to be one of their top target races next year.

So I called up my campaign manager and we decided to raise our fundraising goals for the quarter. It was a tough decision, considering we only have a few days left until our end-of-quarter deadline. But I know I can count on this grassroots team when I need it most.

So, I only ask because it’s incredibly important: Will you chip in $25 or more today to help my campaign team and I prepare for the tough and expensive race ahead? Every contribution helps us reach voters across the Commonwealth and get our message out before the super PACs descend onto Virginia.
