Calling all High School Students who live or go to school in District 39! Our office is re-launching our Youth Leadership Council this October - Apply before October 1st!

The District 39 Youth Leadership Council is a 8-month program that offers youth ages 14-18 who live in or go to school in New York City Council District 39 an inside look at local government.
Fellows will work with the Office of Council Member Shahana Hanif to staff events, get out the vote for participatory budgeting, work on a variety of projects, and lead their own speakers series. Email Hannah at [email protected] with specific questions.
September 25th 6:00pm: Advanced Planning & Legal rights for Caregivers

September 27th 12:00 - 4:00pm: Join Prospect Farm (1194 Prospect Ave) in Windsor Terrace for their 2nd annual Harvest Festival. Festivities include: Garden tours, apple bobbing, musical jamming, compost giveaway, arts and crafts for all ages.
October 4th is City of Forest Day! Join our Tree Stewardship team to care for our urban canopy, which provides shade, fresh air, and beauty for all of us. There are two events happening:
- 10/4 from 10am - 1pm: Join Gowanus Canal Conservancy along 4th avenue with FOFA, sign up here.
- 10/4 from 2 - 4pm with the Cobble Hill Association and Big Reuse - sign up here.
October 4th is also the annual Brooklyn Pop-Up Fall Bazaar at The Old Stone House - emphasizing local craftspeople, sustainable design, and handmade wares. See the full details and registration here.
October 8th 6:00pm - 7:30pm: Our office is co-hosting an information session on Open Data, with NYC Open Data. New York City makes approximately 3,000 datasets about its operations available for public access, including information from every City agency and office. This training will provide data literacy and support folks interested in becoming Open Data Ambassadors. Register for the virtual meeting link.
