Hi friend ,
Soon, the Congressional Black Caucus will convene our 54th Annual Legislative Conference [[link removed]] , the leading public policy gathering dedicated to the issues impacting Black communities in America.
In the lead-up, we’re launching a short series: Countdown to CBC . Each email will give you a closer look at who we are, what we’re fighting for, and the results we’re delivering as we gear up for this historic conference.
From our founding in 1971, the CBC has worked to ensure Black Americans and other marginalized communities have full access to the rights, protections, and opportunities promised in the Constitution.
But today, those promises are under direct attack from the Republicans’ extremist agenda:
🚨Project 2025 concentrates power in the presidency and dismantles independent agencies meant to hold government accountable.
🚨The Supreme Court has already gutted affirmative action, weakened voting protections, and signaled its willingness to roll back rights we thought were settled law.
🚨House Republicans are advancing bills that target immigrants, restrict reproductive freedom, erode civil rights enforcement, and undermine the rule of law.
The CBC was created to confront moments like this.
As Chair, my colleagues and I are using every tool at our disposal to defend constitutional protections and push back against these threats. But this fight cannot be won in Congress alone. It will take all of us, standing shoulder-to-shoulder, to safeguard our rights and build lasting power for Black communities.
I invite you to stand with us. [[link removed]]
Together, we can ensure that our Constitution remains a living promise of justice, not an empty document eroded by extremism.
Stand with the CBC [[link removed]]
Thank you for being part of this fight.
With gratitude and resolve,
Yvette D. Clarke
