Increasing Small Business Access to Capital

Small businesses are the backbone of the American economy, but many struggle to secure access to capital. My bill, the Merchant Banking Modernization Act, passed markup in the House Committee on Financial Services by a vote of 35-17 on Tuesday. This crucial legislation gives businesses and their banking partners more time to unlock long-term investments, create jobs, and fuel economic growth in communities across America. Small Business Full Committee Hearings

As a life-long small business owner, I know that access to capital is the lifeblood of success for Main Street. On Tuesday, my Committee held a hearing examining the role of SBA lending in supporting America’s hardworking families and entrepreneurs. Watch my opening statement here.

On Wednesday, I led a hearing exploring the impact of the content creator economy. Content creators are more than just entertainers. They are small business owners, job creators, and innovators who face the same challenges as traditional small businesses. For years, my Committee has been tirelessly fighting to level the playing field by increasing access to capital, cutting burdensome regulations, and lowering taxes.
