Pat Ryan for Congress [[link removed]]
Hi friend,

I hope you’re doing well. We’re getting closer every day to the government funding deadline on September 30. I wanted to keep you informed of my plans on how to move forward. I outlined my proposed strategy here, [[link removed]] which got covered by NBC News. [[link removed]] I hope you’ll take the time to read it.

We’re also already seeing the Big Ugly Betrayal’s effects hit home in the Hudson Valley, and we need to keep that in focus as we move toward local elections this November and the midterms next November. I now have an opponent getting in the race, which means it’s time to get even more focused. We’ll need to stick together as we get closer to Election Day.

There are also lots of volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley around this year’s local elections. Sign up to volunteer with the Ulster, [[link removed]] Dutchess, [[link removed]] or Orange [[link removed]] County Democrats to start making a difference.

What’s going on
Hudson Valley
[link removed] [[link removed]] [link removed] [[link removed]]What I’m doing: Across the Hudson Valley, EMS response times are falling short. The delays are putting lives at risk.

That’s why I’m pushing in Congress for federal legislation that ensures fair pay for emergency responders and improves access to care through Medicaid reimbursements for field-based services. If we don’t act now, more patients will wait too long for help, and more EMTs will leave the job due to burnout and low pay.

Local leaders like Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino and Ulster County Executive Jen Metzger are right to demand more federal investment in EMS. They’ve sounded the alarm with real data: in some parts of Red Hook and Rhinebeck, nearly 1 in 5 life-threatening calls take more than 15 minutes to reach a patient. That’s unacceptable.

We need to treat EMS like the essential, life-saving service it is — not an afterthought. That starts with stable federal funding to help recruit, train, and retain EMTs, modernize equipment, and ensure no community is left behind.

What you can do: Call your local elected officials or member of Congress (if you’re outside NY-18) and tell them to get these key services funded!

New York

What I’m doing: Due to the Big Ugly Betrayal, nearly 450,000 New Yorkers are now set to lose their health insurance next year. That includes more than 17,000 people right here in the Hudson Valley.

* Orange County : 8,094 residents losing coverage
* Dutchess County: 5,198 residents
* Ulster County: 3,724 residents

These are working families. Many are part-time workers in retail, food service, or caregiving jobs. They don’t get insurance through their employer, and they make just a little too much to qualify for Medicaid. The Essential Plan was created to serve exactly these people, and now it’s being ripped away.

Let’s be clear: Trump has broken his campaign promises and betrayed working people of this country over and over again. He sold us out. And we’re seeing the effects right here at home. We’ve got to fight back.

I’m fighting to restore this funding and reverse the damage from the Big Ugly Betrayal.

What I’m doing: I’ve made it clear: if House Republicans want Democratic votes to keep the government open, they need to start listening to the American people. Instead, all they’ve done is protect Trump and sell us out.

This week, I joined a group of my colleagues in demanding a budget deal that works for working people. That starts with one urgent priority: undoing the worst effects of the Big Ugly Betrayal, Trump’s cruel law that slashed Medicaid and handed tax breaks to billionaires.

We laid out five core demands:

* Reverse the Medicaid cuts from the Big Ugly Betrayal.
* Replace Trump’s tax cuts with real relief for the 99%.
* Eliminate harmful tariffs driving up prices.
* Restore COPS grants to support public safety.
* Ban congressional stock trading and release the Epstein files to root out corruption.

We’re done playing defense. It’s time to fight for a budget that reflects our values and puts money and power back where it belongs: with you.

What you can do:

* Talk to your friends and neighbors about what’s at stake in this fight. These policies affect everything from your health care to your grocery bill.
* Spread the word on social media: * I stand with @PatRyanUC and demand a budget that helps working families — not billionaires. We are the Patriotic Majority!

* Stay engaged. Congress needs to hear from real people, not just lobbyists. Let’s make some noise.

This is a moment to lead, and I’m proud to be doing just that, alongside a new generation of Democrats who are ready to fight smarter and harder.

Going on offense

Trump and the GOP thrive in the pandemonium of the 24 hour news cycle. But we’ve got to stay focused. All of Trump’s policies point in one direction—making the rich richer at our expense, and squeezing working people for corporate profits. We’ve got to be laser focused on fighting for affordability in health care, housing, groceries, and more. That’s the bedrock of the American Dream, and that’s what I’m fighting for every day.

Keep the faith, keep up the fight, and thank you for reading!

In Solidarity,

Pat
