➤➤ BREAKING: DOJ is planning to hand your voter registration data to DHS

John.

This week we learned something deeply dangerous: the U.S. Justice Department is considering transferring massive amounts of voter registration data from states to Homeland Security for use in criminal and immigration investigations.

They’ve collected this data via letters to at least 22 states. It includes full voter rolls – names, addresses, sometimes driver’s license numbers – and now they want DHS to start cross‑referencing it with law enforcement and immigration databases.

This isn’t about cleaning up the rolls. It’s about surveillance. It’s about intimidation. It’s another tool in Trump’s authoritarian toolbox.

State election officials and independent legal experts are sounding alarms. Privacy laws may be violated. Voter trust will be eroded. Communities of color, immigrants, and those already targeted will feel the consequences first.

That’s why Democratic Secretaries of State matter now more than ever. They’re refusing to turn over sensitive data without safeguards. They are defending everything from privacy to voter integrity. But defending rights takes resources: legal muscle, organizing power, and public awareness.

Will you chip in $3 or whatever you can today to help us support Secretaries of State resisting this data grab and protect our democracy?
