Hi folks, it’s Josh Stein, Governor of North Carolina. I know I’ve reached out about the state of our health care system a lot – this is my 9th time this year – so I’ll keep this brief, but this issue is too big to ignore.

Along with other Democratic leaders in my state, I spent a decade fighting for Medicaid expansion in North Carolina because Medicaid helps all of us – not just those it covers. It keeps rural hospitals open, strengthens our entire health care system, lowers overall costs, and boosts our economy.

But instead of protecting it, Republicans in Washington just passed a budget that cuts a trillion dollars from Medicaid and could strip 17 million Americans of their health care – all so they could pay for a billionaire tax break.

The federal government abandoned our people, but Democratic governors like me won’t. We’ll work in our states to ensure folks can continue receiving the care they need to stay healthy, save lives, and strengthen our rural health care systems – but we need your support in this fight.

Radical Republicans think we’ll sit back and watch as they rip away our health care, so this is the moment we have to stand up and defend it. I refuse to give up. I will always fight to protect Medicaid, but I need you to join me. Will you add your name beside mine on my DGA petition to protect our health care before my midnight deadline?
