Dear John, When I moved to Knoxville, I figured I would complete my term of service with AmeriCorps and then move on. More than 5 years later, I’m still here. I fell in love with this city - the people, the places, and the sense of community that ties it all together. With that in mind, I’m proud to be supporting the local option sales tax increase. I want everyone who calls Knoxville home to have an affordable place to live - this plan invests in housing. I want all my neighbors to be able to get around safely - this plan invests in sidewalks, greenways, and neighborhood traffic calming and safety projects. I want our community to continue to enjoy beautiful, open, green spaces - this plan invests in parks. For so many reasons, this proposal supports the kind of Knoxville I want to live in, the kind of place I hope to see my friends and loved ones thrive in. I also want Knoxville to be a place for everyone, and I hear so many folks expressing concern that this proposal would create hardship for low income members of our community. I’m thankful that groceries will be exempted, and glad to know that costs like rent, gas, and healthcare will not be impacted. Ultimately, I believe that this proposal serves our community - and I’m happy to hear that all the folks who visit Knoxville and spend money will be chipping in to support our City! I hope you’ll join me in voting FOR Knoxville on November 4th. If you’d like to go beyond that, I invite you to help Neighbors for Knoxville by volunteering or making a contribution! Sincerely, Zoe Scott I had the pleasure of joining neighbors in West Hills in August for the Neighbors FOR Knoxville kickoff event! It was great to hear so many folks in our community show support for more affordable housing, safer streets and sidewalks, and better parks and greenways!
