Hi –

I’m Lisa, Mark’s wife. I don’t often reach out to you, but I did want to share things about Mark with his supporters.

(And yes, it is an election year, and so I have been reminded to ask you for a contribution to his campaign before the important end-of-quarter deadline. You can click here to do that right now, or donate at the end, if you’re able to.) [link removed]

And so, here are a few things you should know about Mark.

1. He loves the part of his job that involves getting around Virginia. He truly loves the road trips, the chance to meet folks in their communities, at work, at festivals – whether it is a parade, a community meeting, a visit with a business, or just knocking on doors, Mark is up for it and engaged. He always returns energized, with a lot of stories, having learned a lot, and ready to take the fight back to Washington.

2. In his free time, Mark loves to read. More often than not he’s reading the news, or reviewing a memo from his staff, but every day he is also reading novels, or non-fiction histories. His all-time favorite books are the Harry Potter series, which he read with our daughters, and he still has a deep fondness for the Hardy Boys series (anyone under 50 will have no memory of those).

3. He loves dogs. We have had six family dogs over the years, the first one, “Buddy” was a Christmas gift to me from Mark. Mark was never the reliable walker or the disciplinarian, but definitely the “softy” who encouraged them onto the bed at night, and gave treats. Not surprisingly then, he also fought in his career to expand animal welfare. A few years ago, Mark learned of 70 animal welfare violations at the Envigo beagle facility in Cumberland. He fought hard until all 450 dogs were finally freed from the abusive facility.

Now, Mark is facing a tough re-election campaign – a fight we both know is crazy important.

I am reaching out at a particularly important time for the campaign – with Mark’s end-of-quarter deadline fast approaching. So if you are able to donate, I personally ask you to complete your donation right now to help Mark and his team before this critical deadline. [link removed]

Thank you for being a part of this grassroots team.

Lisa
