Six years ago next month, Republicans - fueled by NRA money -- recalled Colorado Senators Angela Giron and John Morse.

Now they're at it again: In a blatant attempt to steal control of the legislature, and in the very same district once held by Senator Giron, they've just launched a recall campaign against Senate President Leroy Garcia, the first-ever Latino state Senate president in Colorado.

We can't overstate how serious this is. If Republicans win even two of the recalls they've launched, they'll succeed in turning the state Senate red -- and undo all the progress we've made since winning in a landslide last November.

Senator Leroy Garcia is a champion for Coloradans. A Marine Corps veteran, he's not only serving his constituents in the legislature -- he's a paramedic in Pueblo and teaches emergency medical services at the Pueblo Community College. He's the very definition of a public servant.

But that's not stopping Republicans. They're not looking out for the best interests of Senator Garcia's constituents, or of Coloradans all over the state -- they're concerned about the best interests of their extremist right-wing friends. And they'll stop at nothing to get what they want.
