This is a pattern: When women of color speak truth to power, the right-wing freaks out.

Last week, Republicans introduced a censure resolution against me for defending the humanity of Palestinians. This week, they introduced TWO resolutions against my friend and colleague Ilhan Omar, one to censure her and one to kick her off of her committees in the House of Representatives.

They love to police our words when we defend vulnerable communities, but appear perfectly comfortable with the hate speech that comes from the White House and from their fellow Republicans on a daily basis.

Both Ilhan and I are up for re-election and we need your help to prepare for the fights ahead.

Last week, Republicans introduced a censure resolution against me for demanding our government stop enabling war crimes.

This week, they’ve introduced a censure resolution against my sister-in-service Ilhan Omar, along with a resolution seeking to kick her off of her committees—all because she spoke out against white supremacy.

Republicans don’t bat an eye when their fascist President sends troops into Black-led cities or sends masked federal agents to snatch immigrants off our streets. They’re happy to rip healthcare and food away from vulnerable people, attack our trans neighbors, and continue to send weapons of war to Israel for the genocide against the Palestinian people.

But, when women of color speak up about racism and call out violence against marginalized people, they police our words and attempt to censure us.

The far-right are increasing their attacks against Democrats and our base. This week we’ve seen an uptick in hateful calls to our campaign office.

GOP rhetoric fuels racism, misogyny, transphobia, and other kinds of hate—which leads to violence against our communities. Their racist attacks on elected women of color endanger not only those of us in public office but also the people who share our identities or are otherwise marginalized.

We won’t stop standing up for our communities in the face of hateful attacks.
