Hey y’all — I’m Katy, the Organizing Director here at the Texas Democratic Party! I’m so excited to be on the team because I see what’s possible for Texas Dems. Kendall asked me to reach out and follow up on his email earlier this week, so I hope you’ll stick with me while I explain why.

My job is to connect with folks like you and build the people power it takes to win in Texas. I don’t work just in big cities or swing districts. I’m talking about everywhere: rural counties, overlooked neighborhoods, and places that national campaigns too often write off.

The philosophy is simple (even if it takes a lot of work!): if we want to win up and down the ballot, we have to organize year-round in every single corner of the state.

And folks, that work is more important now than ever. I know, I know — you’ve heard this before. But I wanted to clue you in on something major that just happened:

Texas Republican Party sues state to end open primaries.

The Texas GOP is once again trying to change the rules to rig the game — this time by proposing a closed primary system that would lock out independent voters. It’s a direct attack on our democracy and an attack on the kind of open, grassroots politics we’re building together.

But here’s how YOU can do something right now and be part of this work to return the power to the people:

🗳️ Volunteer with your local county party
If no one’s organizing your precinct, we want to help you change that. We’ll train you, support you, and stand with you every step of the way.

📚 Take a volunteer training
Learn to knock doors, register voters, and be the kind of local leader your community needs.

💪 Power our work statewide
A few dollars keeps VAN running, puts voter guides in the field, and helps us fight GOP attacks in court.

🎉 Invite your network to volunteer with you
Change multiplies when we bring others in. Invite your friends and family, share on social, and help us grow our team.

Republicans have billionaires and special interests. We have each other. And that’s always been enough — when we show up, organize, and fight like hell for the future we believe in.
