Hi John,
Yesterday, as part of the Stop Trump Coalition, we brought tens of thousands onto the streets of London in defiance of the US president’s authoritarian and big business agenda – and the UK government’s subservience to it.

Now to ‘Make Them Pay’
In order for there to be a viable political alternative to the growing far right, however, we need more than just opposition, we also need proposition. That’s what Make Them Pay is about – a clear call to tax the super-rich and corporate polluters to tackle growing inequality, crumbling public services and the urgent need for a green transition that puts ordinary people first.
Make Them Pay demonstration
Saturday 20 September
Assemble 12 noon, Portland Place, London W1B
There are still places available on coaches from around the country for just £15 (free places also available on request) and we’ll be marching as a Global Justice Now group. There are now nearly 90 organisations of all types and sizes supporting the demonstration, and we’re expecting a colourful, fun and family friendly day. We’ll be marching to Downing Street, where speakers will include Gary Stevenson, Faiza Shaheen and Zack Polanski.
Where to find Global Justice Now
We will be assembling at the front of the Climate Bloc (Bloc J), near the junction of Portland Place and New Cavendish Street (see on Google Maps). There will be a large Bloc J sign nearby, and once people arrive, we will have lots of Global Justice Now placards. You can also join the Global Justice Now WhatsApp chat for the demo.
Can’t make the demo?
We understand that not everyone can make it to London, or manage a demonstration, but we hope that by organising it we can create some real momentum for a real alternative to the climate and inequality crises. Don’t forget to sign our Make Them Pay petition, and ahead of the budget in November the coalition will be encouraging local activities around the country.
In the meantime, I’m looking forward to seeing lots of you on the protest on Saturday!
In solidarity,
James O’Nions
