John – as I’ve been traveling Illinois to meet with voters across our state, I’ve seen firsthand the struggles so many are facing every day.

Even as Americans work longer and longer hours, costs keep skyrocketing, families are struggling to put food on the table, and healthcare access is becoming a thing of the past.

It reminds me of my own childhood, when – despite my parents working hard day in and day out –  there was a time my family struggled to afford food to eat or a home to live in.

That struggle shouldn't be a common theme in our country. 

When times were tough for my family, we were able to rely on food stamps and public housing to help us get back our feet.

That’s why I can’t look away while Donald Trump is slashing the very programs that hardworking families like own have relied on.

It’s clear that the Trump administration has made cruelty towards hardworking Americans its top priority. They’re slashing programs that give people a helping hand during hard times – all to make Trump’s billionaire buddies even richer.

Every day, Donald Trump and his far-right allies are making it harder and harder to get by. That’s why I’m running for Senate. Because we need leaders who understand the struggles of hardworking Americans – not who enrich their billionaire buddies.
