Good afternoon, everyone
I want to provide an update on last Friday's brush fire at South Kitsap Regional Park. The fire marshal says the fire appears to have been caused by a small, illegal campfire in the park. A formal report should be available soon.
Thanks again to the outstanding response from South Kitsap Fire and Rescue, the fire was contained with no impact to park operations. The park remains fully open and accessible to the public.
This incident reinforces the critical importance of fire awareness during these dry conditions. I urge everyone to:
- Stay vigilant and report any smoke or fire immediately by calling 911
Our firefighters and our fire marshal's office did exceptional work under challenging conditions. Let's all do our part to prevent future incidents by staying alert and following fire safety protocols.
Warm regards,
Oran
