America lost a legend last week.
On Wednesday, September 10th, 31-year-old Charlie Kirk was assassinated while speaking at Utah Valley University. He was a devout Christian, devoted husband, loving father, and a true American patriot.Â
Charlie deeply loved our great nation so much that he dedicated his life to improving our Republic. His mission was to not only spread the word of Jesus, but to inform and mobilize young Americans throughout the country to fight for truth, faith, and liberty.
At just 18-years-old, Charlie founded Turning Point USA to educate students about the importance of championing freedom and limited government. He traveled across the country to both encourage the next generation of conservative leaders and challenge those with different opinions. By now, I’m sure you’ve seen one of the countless clips of Charlie openly debating liberal ideas. Each and every time, this brilliant young mind respectfully dismantled the opposition with scripture, common sense, and the wise words of our Founders.
Yet last week, a deranged and deeply lost 22-year-old took his life.
Let me be perfectly clear: Charlie’s murder has nothing to do with guns. This is not a Second Amendment issue, but rather an assault on our First Amendment freedoms. Providing political opponents an opportunity to debate is a more than 250-year-old tradition and the essence of our constitutional Republic. Murdering someone in front of their family over debate is antithetical to everything taught by our Lord and Savior, the Constitution, and what our Founders believed.
The evil that senselessly stole Charlie from us does not stem from a “gun problem;” it’s rooted in a communistic Godlessness that continues to manifest itself in the extreme corners of the Left. For evidence, look no further than how liberals openly celebrated and mocked Charlie’s murder. This vile hatred has been spewed by elected Democrat officials, the mainstream media, and everyday Americans. Educators, medical professionals, service members, and more have shamelessly participated in this evil. Every solitary one deserves to be condemned — and yes, fired.
In stark contrast, I have been inspired by the incredible outpouring of love for both Charlie and Jesus Christ. Over the weekend, patriotic Americans attended church — some for the very first time. Prayer vigils were held in every corner of our country. Together, we find comfort knowing that Charlie is now with our Lord and Savior, who, I am confident, welcomed him home with open arms saying, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
As we mourn the loss of a great lion, I am confident that we will carry the torch. While we can never replace Charlie Kirk, we will ensure his fire for faith and freedom will never be extinguished.Â
May a million Charlie Kirks not only be created, but may they continue fighting the good fight for future generations.
Folks, we will not shirk from the evil that took Charlie. We will face it head on and defeat it.
Next week, I will share with you my thoughts on the radical Left’s rhetoric and organized assault on America — including how these played a pivotal role in Charlie’s murder and how Congress must take action.
For now, I encourage you to pray. Pray for Charlie’s wife, Erika, who has shown remarkable resilience in the face of darkness. Pray for Charlie’s two young children, who will be raised with stories of his legendary life. Pray for the lost, troubled souls who are working to destroy our nation. Pray for America, who will defeat evil — a feat we can only accomplish through God.
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” — Psalm 46:1
