Dear John,
In a reckless ruling using the shadow docket, the Supreme Court allowed ICE agents to use race, language, and perceived immigration status as a pretext to detain or question people, without warrant, suspicion, or cause. This sends a chilling message to millions of Americans that if you speak Spanish, look “foreign,” or work in a Latino neighborhood, you’re fair game for federal harassment.
This is racial profiling. It’s unconstitutional. And it’s now temporarily legal, unless we speak out.
Without a full hearing or explanation, this decision bulldozes Fourth Amendment protections against unreasonable searches and seizures. It guts the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. It opens the door to state-sanctioned racial abuse.
This normalizes bigotry, weaponizes fear, and erodes legal protections under the guise of “security.” But we also know how to fight it by organizing and refusing to stay silent.
We must organize a tidal wave of grassroots dissent to show this is a racist abuse of power, not law enforcement. Tell the Supreme Court that racial profiling is unconstitutional.
This decision is exactly what authoritarianism looks like. It strips people of rights without process, then hands power to federal agents to act on prejudice. It will not stop with immigration. It will not stop with one city. If we stay silent now, it will spread.
Racial profiling creates second-class citizens. It erodes public trust. It does nothing to improve safety and everything to stoke division. The decision from the Supreme Court is a disgrace to democracy, and it must be reversed.
If allowed to stand, this precedent would embolden law enforcement across the country to harass, detain, and intimidate based on how someone looks or sounds. It’s an invitation to abuse. We won’t allow it.
We must say no to racial profiling. No to injustice masquerading as law. No to a Court that sidesteps the Constitution when it’s politically convenient.
Tell the Supreme Court that racial profiling is unconstitutional and racist. Demand they reverse this disgraceful ruling and restore the basic rights they just stripped away.
Together, we will force the Court to reverse this racist decision.
