Oversight visits, new legislation, and standing up to GOP obstruction.

Hey team, checking in on what’s happening in D.C, let’s see...

  • Speaker Johnson and the House GOP are barreling toward another government shutdown
  • Donald Trump’s birthday letter to Jeffrey Epstein, provided to the House Oversight Committee, was just revealed, and it’s disgusting
  • Oh, and the Supreme Court just gave ICE the okay to racially profile and detain people based on the way they look and sound.
It’s really ugly out there, folks.

But Mary Gay (you won’t be surprised to hear) is one of those people who runs toward trouble to help.

So in all this, she’s out doing her job — shining a light on abuses, pushing forward legislation to protect our communities, and showing up even when Trump’s loyalists shut her out.

Here’s a quick round-up of what she’s been up to these last few weeks:

ICE blocks Mary Gay from entering PA detention center: Mary Gay was denied entry during a legally permitted oversight visit to the Moshannon Valley Processing Center after reports of detainee mistreatment and a recent in-custody death. DHS officials stonewalled her and Rep. Summer Lee — a chilling violation of transparency and congressional oversight. Learn more about her fight to check ICE activity here.
