John -

You may have noticed that we've been sending more emails than usual lately
asking you to donate to our climate movement. I think you deserve to
understand why — especially in the lead up to Draw the Line — your
contribution is so important. Please give me a chance to clarify:

* The future of our planet is at a tipping point: we can either prevent
the worst effects of global warming or cross a point of no return —
putting not only our planet, but all of us, at risk.
* In a few days we're kicking off our global days of action to demand a
better future. Draw the Line will unite communities across the world
in bold resistance against polluters, billionaires, and climate
inaction.
* We are up against some incredibly powerful and wealthy opponents, who
want to see the climate movement's freedom of speech and right to
protest taken away — by limiting freedom of expression laws,
criminalizing protests, and intimidating or arresting activists.
* Individual contributions from supporters like you allow our climate
movement to speak truth to power and stay independent.

Our people-powered climate movement and global events like Draw the Line
are funded by tens of thousands of grassroots donors, chipping in what
they can to emails just like this one. And right now, it's more important
than ever that we have the resources we need to not only demand urgent
climate action NOW, but defend our right to protest around the world.

The recent attacks on our civil liberties mean that the costs associated
with organizing a mass event like Draw the Line have increased
significantly. So with our global days of action just around the corner, I
hope you can understand why I am asking:

[ [link removed] ]Can I count on you to make a contribution today to help cover the
increasing costs of this huge global event, and make sure it's a massive
success? Together, we can make sure our voices are heard in every corner
of the globe.

I'm not going to sugarcoat it — recent developments in the U.S., and
around the world, paint a bleak picture for the future of our climate. If
we do nothing, our opponents will only get bolder and bolder, and the
world will never be the same. But if tens of thousands of supporters like
you are able to donate, we will be in a very strong position to fight
back.

So if you've been waiting to make your
first contribution
today, I humbly ask that you consider chipping in, perhaps for someone who
may not be in a financial position to donate today:

[ [link removed] ]Please chip in to help
make Draw the Line the catalyst we need to end the era of fossil fuels.
Every single contribution today will go straight toward building a better
future for everyone.

John,
there is not a single more important
moment than this one to take action in the climate movement. Thank you
again. For everything.

In solidarity,

Olivia Langhoff
Managing Director
