*Gov. Reynolds issues statement following final DOGE Task Force meeting* DES MOINES— On February 10, 2025, Governor Kim Reynolds signed Executive Order 12 establishing Iowa’s DOGE Task Force to further advance the state’s government alignment efforts by recommending ways to refine workforce programs, leverage emerging technologies, and maximize taxpayer investment.   The task force, made up of leaders from private sector businesses, education, and local government, solicited input from Iowans and consulted stakeholders to identify focus areas and develop recommendations. Four public meetings were held on April 2, June 4, August 6, and September 15.  Following today’s meeting, the task force will submit its recommendations for the final report, which will be sent to Governor Reynolds by September 29, 2025, 180 days after the first public meeting as required by the executive order.  “We’re fortunate to have had some of Iowa’s leading business executives and local leaders serve on the state’s DOGE Task Force. I want to thank each of them for contributing their time, talent and expertise, and extend my heartfelt gratitude to chairperson Emily Schmitt for leading the effort,” said Governor Reynolds. “Private sector businesses often lead innovation, and we can learn from their example. When government adopts a similar mindset, it can better adapt to changing needs. Iowa can’t continue doing business the same way it has for decades and expect to meet modern-day demands. Our taxpayers deserve a better return on their investment and, by operating more effectively and efficiently, our state will be even better positioned to attract business, grow our workforce, expand our economy, and sustain the quality of life we all value.  “I look forward to reviewing the report, considering how each of the recommendations could help achieve those goals, and then sharing my plans for the next phase of government alignment with Iowans in the coming weeks.”    # # #
