First, let’s define real patriotism. Because we’re not talking about nationalism, or the GOP version of faux-patriotism they’ve been parading on Fox News for decades.
Real patriotism is investing in the common good of the American people — for working families, not out-of-touch politicians or corporate elites. It’s defending principles like liberty, freedom, and justice for ALL — even people we disagree with or who live differently than we do. And it’s resisting any threat to the voice and livelihoods of working people like you.
At its core, real patriotism means loving your country so much that you want to make life as good as possible for the people who live, work, and build communities here.
You don’t have to flip through your nearest newspaper very long to see how Republicans in Congress have abandoned that idea.
