Overflow Crowd at Kennedy Center for Kirk Vigil; “We are all Charlie Kirk now”

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., DNI Tulsi Gabbard, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt joined a host of others in honoring the legacy of Charlie Kirk. There was an overflow crowd (Kennedy Center). Jake Hoffman, State Senator in Arizona: “There’s a motto going around Turning Point offices right now and that’s ‘We are all Charlie Kirk now.’ You are all Charlie Kirk now. Charlie Kirk sacrificed his life defending our civil liberties to engage in free and open and honest debate…. let’s join in this fight. Let’s carry the cause of freedom and honor Charlie Kirk once and for all. Charlie, we love you, we miss you, but we will fight to continue your legacy.” Karoline Leavitt: Charlie was a beaming light in a world that is so consumed by darkness…. Turning Point Looking Ahead After Assassination of Kirk

Ward Clark for Red State: We’re still figuring out all the implications of Charlie Kirk’s assassination. One of the key people who will be left to pick up the pieces – aside from Mrs. Kirk, who has the toughest row to hoe of all – is Charlie’s friend and partner, Jack Posobiec. In an interview with CNN’s Meena Duerson on the feature “Outfront,” Mr. Posobiec spoke on a number of things that Turning Point USA will be going through – and the state of the country following Charlie’s murder…. Some key excerpts: “Meena Duerson: ‘Posobiec is a leading voice in right-wing media, where some of his peers were quick to call Kirk’s assassination an act of war.’ (Cutaway to video, Steve Bannon speaking) ‘Charlie Kirk’s a casualty of war.’ Duerson: ‘Do you think we’re at war?’ Jack Posobiec: ‘My friend’s in a box right now. And, it wasn’t an accident.’ Duerson: ‘Do you think we’re facing a civil war?’ Posobiec: ‘Well, there’s no question that we’re clearly facing asymmetric civil warfare. One of the key aspects of that is political assassinations. That being said, the idea that we’re going to a, you know, classic civil war scenario, I hope and I pray that doesn’t happen.’” We should all hope that doesn’t happen, but it’s worth noting that the only side that is shooting people is the left. The only side that is rioting, burning, and looting is the left. The only side that is dancing in the blood of anyone to the right of Joseph Stalin who dies for any reason is the left. This isn’t a “both sides” issue. Not yet, anyway. And the differences couldn’t be more stark. In the summer of 2020, the left took to the streets, rioting, burning, looting, causing billions in property damage – over the death of a drug-addicted serial criminal. Charlie Kirk was killed in what can only be described as a political assassination; he was a clean, law-abiding young husband and father, and yet there is no rioting, no burning, no looting (RedState).

Massive Rally in UK to “Unite the Kingdom”

The work of Tommy Robinson—the conservative activist elite media has tried to label “far right.” Simply read: he’s conservative. Tommy and organizers said millions showed up (Robinson). BBC claimed it was 150,000 (BBC). Sky News: This was the biggest nationalist rally in recent memory – perhaps ever. Well before the march started, thousands of people flowed over Blackfriars bridge, or came up from Waterloo station, flags everywhere, hailing from everywhere – from Yorkshire roses to the diamond of the Isle of Wight …. When the crowd arrived at Whitehall, they were led from the stage in a chant of ‘Christ is king’. And then a public recital of the Lord’s Prayer shortly after that. It’s an important difference. Not just a flag to rally around, but a religion too. At the centre of it all, the anti-Islam activist Tommy Robinson. When Robinson took the stage, it was more like a football match or festival than a political rally. “We rode the storm, we weathered the storm, and today we are the storm,” he shouted hoarsely (Sky News). Sir Trevor Phillips: There was a sprinkling of black and brown faces, and the event was brought to a close by a gospel group singing Jerusalem. All that must worry the traditional mass parties—Labor and conservatives now polling at less than 40% between them. They’re draining support to parties like Reform and the Greens, and yet a man recently out of jailed, condemned as an extremist thug by most mainstream media outlets can rally a demo the size of the entire population of Cambridge or Blackpool, a feet. You couldn’t imagine either Sir Keir Starmer or Kemi Badenoch pulling off anytime soon. Perhaps the people are sending us all a message. Let’s see if anyone at Westminster’s listening (X).

Trump Presses NATO: Stop Buying Russian Oil

Trump on Truth Social: “I am ready to do major Sanctions on Russia when all NATO Nations have agreed, and started, to do the same thing, and when all NATO Nations STOP BUYING OIL FROM RUSSIA. As you know, NATO’S commitment to WIN has been far less than 100%, and the purchase of Russian Oil, by some, has been shocking! It greatly weakens your negotiating position, and bargaining power, over Russia. Anyway, I am ready to “go” when you are. Just say when? I believe that this, plus NATO, as a group, placing 50% to 100% TARIFFS ON CHINA, to be fully withdrawn after the WAR with Russia and Ukraine is ended, will also be of great help in ENDING this deadly, but RIDICULOUS, WAR. China has a strong control, and even grip, over Russia, and these powerful Tariffs will break that grip. This is not TRUMP’S WAR (it would never have started if I was President!), it is Biden’s and Zelenskyy’s WAR. I am only here to help stop it, and save thousands of Russian and Ukrainian lives (7,118 lives lost last week, alone. CRAZY!). If NATO does as I say, the WAR will end quickly, and all of those lives will be saved! If not, you are just wasting my time, and the time, energy, and money of the United States. Suspect in Kirk Assassination Not Cooperative

Wall Street Journal reports: The 22-year-old man accused of killing conservative activist Charlie Kirk isn’t cooperating with authorities, but those close to him are, Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said Sunday. The Republican governor said authorities are interviewing family, friends and acquaintances of Tyler Robinson, who was arrested on suspicion of shooting Kirk at a rally Wednesday at Utah Valley University. Formal charges are expected on Tuesday. Cox, who appeared on several Sunday morning news programs, said investigators were collecting forensic evidence and working to better understand Robinson’s motivations. “We can confirm that again, according to family and people that we’re interviewing, he does come from a conservative family. But his ideology was very different than his family. And so that’s part of it,” Cox said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” …. The governor raised concerns that Robinson had been influenced by a dark culture on the internet (Wall Street Journal). New York Sun: Investigators have spoken to Mr. Robinson’s relatives and carried out a search warrant at his family’s home in Washington, about 240 miles southwest of Utah Valley University, where the shooting took place. State records show Mr. Robinson is registered to vote but not affiliated with a political party and is listed as inactive, meaning he did not vote in the two most recent general elections. His parents are registered Republicans. Ammunition found with the weapon used to kill Kirk was engraved with taunting, anti-fascist and meme-culture messages. Court records show that one bullet casing had the message, “Hey, fascist! Catch!” (New York Sun).

TMZ’s Harvey Levin Tries to Walk Back Staff’s Cheering Over Kirk Assassination

Anchor of the tabloid show was recording when his staff were recording cheering as they heard of Kirk’s death (X). No surprise: He tried to cover the ignominious behavior, claiming they were cheers over a car chase. Sarah Arnold of Townhall: TMZ founder Harvey Levin is facing massive backlash after his staff was caught on camera cheering the assassination of Charlie Kirk…. The clip sparked outrage online, with YouTube users flooding Levin’s channel with thumbs-down reactions and angry comments. At first, Levin tried to deflect, claiming the cheers were about a “car chase” unrelated to Kirk. But now, with public pressure mounting, Levin is changing his tune—and issuing a grim warning. “I am not gonna mince words. I fear a civil war,” Levin said. “Charlie Kirk is different. This is not a politician. This is somebody who was slaughtered for his views… and I am worried, as much as I have been my entire life, about democracy and America” (Townhall).

Massive Growth in Applications for Campus Chapters of TPUSA in Wake of Kirk Killing

Andrew Kolvet from Charlie’s program: I wanted to share a paise report from TPUSA. The organization has received over 32,000 inquiries in the last 48-hours to start new campus chapters. To put that in perspective, TPUSA currently has 900 official college chapters and around 1,200 high school chapters, with a presence on 3,500 total. Charlie’s vision to have a Club America chapter (our high school brand) in every high school in America (around 23,000) will come true much, much faster than he could have ever possibly imagined. Charlie Kirk Memorial to Be Held Next Sunday in Glendale, Arizona

The memorial will be at State Farm Stadium, home of the Arizona Cardinals. TPUSA: Join us in celebrating the remarkable life and enduring legacy of Charlie Kirk, an American legend (Turning Point). Newsnation: “This service will be a unifying event focused on prayer, mourning, and celebrating the life, legacy, and memory of Charlie Kirk — a national treasure whose life was cut far too short,” a press release from Arizona state Sen. Jack Hoffman, a Republican, said (Newsnation).

A Hinge Point in American History

That’s pretty similar to the language of Utah Governor Cox in the immediate wake of the assassination, warning about political violence: “It metastasizes because we can always point the finger at the other side. And at some point we have to find an off-ramp or it’s going to get much much worse. History will dictate if this is a turning point for our country. But every single one of us gets to choose right now if this is a turning point for us…. (Spectrum). Reagan speech writer and veteran columnist Peggy Noonan takes a similar line: We don’t even know what to do with what we know. But the assassination of Charlie Kirk feels different as an event, like a hinge point, like something that is going to reverberate in new dark ways. It isn’t just another dreadful thing. It carries the ominous sense that we’re at the beginning of something bad. Michael Smerconish said on CNN Thursday afternoon that normally after such an event the temperature goes down a little, but not in this case, and he’s right. There are the heartbroken and the indifferent and they are irreconcilable…. But what a disaster all this is for the young. Kirk was a presence in the life of a whole generation of young conservatives, and he set a kind of template for how to discuss politics—with good cheer and confidence, with sincerity and a marshaling of facts. He was literally willing to meet people where they are…. William F. Buckley used to say, “Despair is a mortal sin.” You wouldn’t feel it if you had faith that God is living through history with you. Hold your hope and faith high and intact, keep your perspective in the long term. An assassination is the intentional and deliberate killing of a person for political reasons. It has a purpose: to alter events, to remove a leader, to intimidate and punish enemies. What we all have to do now is not let that purpose succeed (Wall Street Journal).
