Hey there, it’s Jennifer, Dave’s Finance Director!

When I tell people I work in politics, I usually get a lot of strange glances — and even more questions. People always ask me if TV shows like The West Wing are even the slightest bit accurate.

And to be completely honest, they’re not. Not even a little bit.

In a TV show, you’d see my character sprinting down grand hallways or inspiring the team with long speeches about the history of American democracy. In reality, I spend most of my time in an office building, looking over spreadsheets.

So no. Politics isn’t quite as glamorous as Hollywood makes it out to be. But it doesn’t need to be. Because elections aren’t decided by TV appearances or how many grand speeches you deliver. They’re decided by cold, hard math.

So here’s why I’m reaching out: Dave’s new Republican opponent already has thousands of dollars in the bank, and that’s before you count all the super PAC spending on top of it. Put those together, and it’s enough to make us sweat.

Unlike the GOP, Dave doesn’t have the luxury of calling up a few corporate PACs to bankroll his campaign, and letting them take care of the rest. We don’t have that kind of big-money firepower on our side — and we don’t want it either. That means we’re really leaning on folks like you.

If everyone reading this email chipped in $5 — or even just $1 — it would go a VERY long way toward putting Dave in the best possible position on Election Day next year. Will you chip in if you can?
