![]() Right now, as I’m sending this email, my seat in Congress is at risk. Not because it’s an election year, but because extreme Republican politicians are taking direct marching orders from Washington.
There’s a pretty obvious reason why National Republicans want me out of Congress: I don’t fit their mold of what a “Kansas politician” should look like. And they’re right. I’m not a normal member of Congress. I wasn’t given a massive trust fund when I turned 18, and I wasn’t handed everything to me on a silver platter. I was raised by a single Army mom, paid my own way through college, and even had a career as an MMA fighter before I ran for elected office. Maybe that background doesn’t make me a “typical” politician. But I think that’s a good thing. Because Congress doesn’t need any more billionaire apologists or career politicians.
