Friend,
When Donald Trump says he’s reshaping the courts, these past few months
prove exactly what he means.
This summer alone, Trump-nominated judges handed down more than 40 rulings
that harmed our civil rights, weakened protections for workers and
consumers, and advanced Trump’s authoritarian agenda. Our new report
documents these decisions in detail – and the trend is only getting worse.

One of the most alarming came just days ago from the Supreme Court. In
their order, the Court’s conservative majority lifted limits on
immigration stops in the Los Angeles area – a decision that effectively
gives ICE the green light to racially profile anyone who “looks Latino,”
speaks Spanish, or works a low-wage job.
Justice Sonia Sotomayor did not mince words in her blistering dissent:
“The Government […] has all but declared that all Latinos, U.S. citizens
or not, who work low wage jobs are fair game to be seized at any time,
taken away from work, and held until they provide proof of their legal
status to the agents’ satisfaction.”
Sotomayor went on to call the ruling “unconscionably irreconcilable with
our Nation’s constitutional guarantees” and warned that the Court’s
majority had engaged in “yet another grave misuse” of its emergency
docket. [ [link removed] ]Read more about the case >>
While this ruling technically applies only to the Los Angeles region, the
precedent it sets is dangerous, and it could shape immigration enforcement
well beyond California.
We cannot let these rulings become the new normal. That’s why People For
created Confirmed Judges, Confirmed Fears – a one-of-a-kind database that
tracks harmful decisions made by Trump’s judges. It’s searchable by a
judge’s name and topic of the case so activists, journalists, and everyday
Americans can see the full scope of their impact. [ [link removed] ]Explore the

But keeping this work going – publishing detailed reports, maintaining the
database, and shining a spotlight on judicial extremism – takes resources.
Trump is still stacking the bench with lifetime appointees, and unless we
fight back, these judges will shape our rights for generations.
Trump’s judges are eroding our rights case by case and we cannot meet this
crisis with silence. We need to keep publishing these reports, maintaining
our database, and exposing every dangerous ruling. That work only happens
if supporters like you step up.
[ [link removed] ]Chip in right now to fuel this fight, protect our courts, and defend
our freedoms. >>
Together, we can push back against Trump’s judicial takeover and keep
building a movement strong enough to outlast his appointments.
Thank you for fighting alongside us,
People For the American Way
