Republicans are targeting me for speaking out for Palestinian rights and liberation. They’ve introduced a censure resolution against me, calling my speech for our shared humanity “vile” and saying that it is “beneath that of a civilized person.”
They police my words when I speak out about how they’re enabling genocide and forced starvation—while they simultaneously vote for a nearly $1 trillion military budget that many of them will personally profit from.
Even as Republicans keep introducing resolutions to censure me, I won’t stay silent. I won’t back down in the fight for freedom for all.
I will continue pushing back against state violence and pushing for a government that actually represents the people―who are overwhelmingly demanding an end to genocide. They can’t censure us all.

As my colleagues hand even more power and taxpayer dollars to our authoritarian president, Trump is preparing to send U.S. troops into Black-led cities like Memphis and New Orleans (which is also a majority-Black city).
The nearly $1 trillion military budget passed by the House last week—which will likely get a vote in the Senate this week—will go toward militarizing our cities and killing people abroad.
They’ve already sent $150 billion to the Pentagon, which is being used for illegal ICE raids and detention camps. Now they want to send another nearly $900 billion of our tax dollars toward death and destruction, instead of investing in what our communities need to survive and thrive.
Dissent is critical in a democracy and we will continue speaking out against our government’s harms. We will not let them silence us.

I’m being targeted for speaking up against the genocide of my people in Palestine.
As the only Palestinian American in Congress, I’m a daily reminder to my colleagues that Palestinians are human beings who deserve to live and grow up and experience freedom and safety. Because I’ve called out my fellow colleagues for their willingness to fund genocide and war crimes, a censure resolution has been introduced against me.
My Republican colleagues don’t see Palestinians, Black people, or other marginalized folks as full humans whose lives matter. Let’s show them that we belong in the halls of power, and we won’t let them silence us or stop our efforts to save lives.

Whether through censure resolutions in Congress or troops in our streets, they are trying to silence dissent. But our movement is growing.
More Democrats in Congress are swearing off AIPAC funding, and more are supporting policies to restrict U.S. military aid to Israel’s government. At the same time, a new Quinnipiac poll shows that 60% of all U.S. voters oppose sending more military aid to Israel, and half of all voters say Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza—with much higher numbers among Democratic voters.1
I will keep pushing our government to represent the American people and stop the Israeli government’s genocide on Palestinians. I will keep demanding dignity and safety for marginalized people and defending human rights at home and abroad.
I will continue defending our constitutional rights, including our due process rights and our right to protest against genocide―whether on college campuses, in the streets, or in the halls of Congress.
Republicans can target me for my speech. But I know I have you and millions of people across the country and the world by my side. Let’s show them that together, we won’t stop speaking truth to power.
