As a dad of two little girls, Josh knows firsthand: welcoming a baby should be one of life’s greatest joys — not a financial burden.
But right now, the average out-of-pocket cost of childbirth is nearly $3,000, and for 1 in 6 moms, it’s more than $5,000. That’s money new parents could be spending on diapers, cribs, or saving for their child’s future.
That’s why Josh is working to pass the Supporting Healthy Moms and Babies Act. This bill would make childbirth completely free by covering prenatal care, ultrasounds, delivery, and a full year of postpartum services with no extra costs.
Josh remembers how overwhelming those early days are for parents. The last thing families should worry about is how to pay for childbirth.
This is commonsense, bipartisan legislation. Together, we can send a clear message: It’s time to make childbirth free for every family in America.
