🚨 New Special Election Endorsements
|
Sister District was thrilled to endorse two candidates running in consequential special elections in Minnesota earlier this month: Amanda Hemmingsen-Jaeger and Xp Lee.
|
Xp Lee is a lifelong community builder who has worked to advance racial justice, gender equity, and community empowerment. His special election is next week, and we’re going all in to help him win.
Amanda is a respected legislator, scientist, and proven leader who has championed paid family leave, affordable childcare, and investments in public health. Amanda will be on the ballot this November, and she’s counting on our grassroots support to reach voters between now and Election Day. Pitch in to support Amanda now.
In just a few years, Minnesota Democrats have protected abortion rights, passed gun safety laws, and made Minnesota a trans refuge state. Now, control of the legislature comes down to special elections, and Sister District isn’t sitting on the sidelines.
|
For an odd-year election cycle when most people step back and everyone expects less, the Sister District community shows up bigger than ever.
We’ve wrapped up the early money and dials phase, and we’re excited to share these MAJOR milestones:
Our community has made 729,760 early dials for our candidates in Virginia — and we’ve raised $567,449 in support of their campaigns!
This early investment and outreach is a key part of our strategy. By showing up early, our community empowers candidates with the tools and foundation to build winning campaigns.
|
Over 100 activists gathered to welcome Virginia Delegate Michelle Maldonado at Sister District Sacramento’s Meet & Greet — raising more than $13,000 to power her re-election campaign!
Great Chicago’s sold-out Whaddayaknow? Free Pub Trivia night brought in the fun and the funds — raising $2,000 to help re-elect Virginia Delegate Michael Feggans!

🌟 Sister District Wins at the Powerful IDEA Awards!
|
We’re thrilled to share that Sister District has once again been recognized at the GAIN POWER Powerful IDEA (Impact on Democracy, Elections, Advocacy) Awards, which honor bold and impactful progressive leaders, organizations, and communications.
For the third year in a row, our Impact Report brought home the award in the Creative Print category. We also won in the Organic Digital Content category for our Historic Firsts of 2024 Instagram post, highlighting groundbreaking achievements from last year’s elections.
|
These wins celebrate not only our team’s creative work, but also the collective power of our community.
|
We’re excited to invite you to two upcoming virtual events this month:
|
Republicans are going all in to win back the Virginia House of Delegates, raising unlimited sums to stop a bellwether statewide victory for Democrats leading into the 2026 midterms. Democrats currently control the assembly by just two seats.
That’s why we’re teaming up with Electing Women Alliance and WomenCount for a virtual fundraising event on September 25th, benefiting 8 of our endorsed women candidates for state legislative office in Virginia.
RSVP to join us at 7:00pm ET on Thursday, Sept. 25 on Zoom.
