Dear Friend,
This year, 24 million folks were able to afford access to high quality health care through the Affordable Care Act (ACA)—with ACA premium tax credits saving people an average of $705 a year. In Texas, more than 3 million people benefitted from the premium tax credits in 2024 alone.
These credits are set to expire at the end of this year. In Congress, I am pushing to permanently extend them.
If the Republican-led Congress doesn’t act, estimates show that premium payments could go up as much as 75 percent. With families already struggling with the high cost of living, I am concerned that for many this will mean forgoing healthcare altogether.
In fact, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimates that failing to extend these ACA premium tax credit will cause 4.2 million people to lose their health care by 2034.
Hardworking families deserve healthcare. That is why, I am co-sponsoring the Protecting Healthcare and Lowering Costs Act, which would rollback conservatives’ healthcare cuts and permanently extend the ACA premium tax credits. As your member of Congress, I will always fight to make health care affordable and accessible and will keep pushing for these credits to be renewed.
