I’m hoping to catch you before the weekend begins, John.
My finance team just updated me on our fundraising efforts, and they asked me to pass along their toplines to you.
Going into this weekend, we’re just about halfway through the month — but we’re not halfway to our online fundraising goal for September.
We need to pick up the pace here, and I’m personally asking for your help. Can you help us raise $50,000 online by the end of Monday? Pitch in anything you can to get us started off. [[link removed]]

John, I hate to bother you with so many requests for support, but failing to meet our fundraising goals could sink our campaign. Here’s why:
We already know how to win a competitive race here in North Carolina. Both of my elections for Governor were extremely close — and both those victories came in years that Donald Trump carried the state in the presidential election. But this race for the U.S. Senate may be unlike anything we’ve faced before.
To win, we will have to enact an ambitious campaign of voter outreach, meeting with folks in Raleigh and Charlotte and Asheville, but also in the most rural, hardest-to-reach corners of the state — just as we have before. That itself doesn’t come cheap. And we will also have to go toe-to-toe with the GOP.
The path to the majority runs through North Carolina, so right-wing Republicans are prepared to spend hundreds of millions trying to defeat me. We have to meet them dollar for dollar in spending for TV ads, on the ground canvassing efforts, and in any other avenues that could decide this toss-up race. If we fail to raise what we need to stay competitive, we risk coming up short on Election Day.
Your investment in our work now will help us build the most effective campaign possible — a campaign that can win. We are relying on you. Please give anything that fits in your budget right away. [[link removed]]

Thanks so much,
Roy Cooper
Democrat Roy Cooper is running for U.S. Senate to help take back the Majority for Democrats. North Carolina is Democrats’ best chance to flip a seat from red to blue — the path to stopping Republicans in Washington starts here.
National Republicans will target North Carolina as a key battleground and invest heavily in defeating us.
Cooper is a former state legislator, Attorney General, and most recently Governor of North Carolina. North Carolina will be the most competitive Senate election of 2026, and Cooper enters the race as the most formidable candidate of either party.
Cooper’s signature achievements include helping to expand Medicaid and helping make NC the top state for business by creating thousands of jobs and growing the clean energy economy.
