My name is Helen Amelga, and I’m the new Organizing and Training Director at the California Democratic Party.

I joined the California Democratic Party because I believe our democracy is worth fighting for, and I’ve jumped in at one of the most critical moments in our state’s history: the campaign to pass Proposition 50 this November 4.

Donald Trump and Texas Republicans are trying to rig the 2026 elections before they even begin. Their dark money groups are flooding California with misinformation. And if we don’t fight back, Donald Trump will get two more years of a Congress that lets him run rampant.

That’s where my job comes in! I’m working ASAP to expand our organizing program — hiring canvassers, coordinating literature distribution, training volunteers, partnering with coalition leaders, and making sure every California voter has the facts about Prop 50.

But here’s the truth: I cannot do it alone.

So yes, I am going to ask for a donation. But as a lifelong organizer, I respect your time and your hard-earned money. I want you to know where your donation is going to go.

Every dollar you give will go directly into:

1️⃣ Printing pro-Prop 50 literature to counter GOP lies;

2️⃣ Funding canvasses in every corner of California;

3️⃣ Training the volunteer leaders who will help us turn out the vote;

4️⃣ Getting our voter protection resources (including our hotline) relaunched in time for the special election.
