Be patient:
MDIFW has set up a queue system to handle high traffic on September 16.
Starting at 9:30 AM on September 16, you will be entered into the queue when you access the purchase site. The system will release customers in the order they joined so the site doesn’t get overloaded.
If you log in before 9:30 AM, you’ll be placed in a *virtual waiting room.* At 9:30 AM, everyone in the waiting room will be given a random number and entered into the queue. Entering the waiting room early does *not* give you an advantage over joining later or exactly at 9:30 AM. If you join after 9:30 AM, you will be placed in the queue in the order you arrive.
If you don’t see a green “Purchase Permit” button by 9:30 AM, refresh your screen or clear your cache!
While in the queue, you’ll see your expected wait time. Be patient! Your chance to purchase will come when it’s your turn.

Where can I purchase a permit?
Online only. The link to purchase a permit online will be posted on this website page [ [link removed] ] on Tuesday, September 16 by 9:30 AM.
How will proceeds from the antlerless deer permit fee be used?
Antlerless deer permits are $12 (plus $2 agent fee to cover administrative costs). Proceeds from this permit will help fund the acquisition and management of deer wintering areas (DWAs), primarily in northern Maine.
How many antlerless deer permits can I purchase?
To give everyone an equal opportunity, MDIFW offers two extra permit sale periods in addition to the lottery:
*September 16–29:* You may buy *one extra antlerless deer permit* (first-come, first-served). "If you already have a lottery permit, this means you can hold a total of two permits."
*September 30–December 13:* You may buy *up to three extra antlerless deer permits in total.* "If you already have a lottery permit, you may hold up to four total permits." "If you bought an extra permit during the September 16–29 sale, you can only buy two more during this period (still capped at four total)."
Extra antlerless deer permits can be purchased online anytime between September 16 and December 13, or until sold out.
Who can purchase a permit online?
All hunters, including those who did not apply to the lottery, those who received a permit through the lottery, and those that applied to the lottery but did not receive a permit through the lottery, may purchase an antlerless deer permit online on a first come, first served basis.
I received an Antlerless Deer Permit through the lottery and claimed it. Do I need to use that permit before purchasing another?
No.
I need to purchase a permit on behalf of another hunter, do I need to re-enter the queue a second time?
No. Once you are in the queue and purchase a permit, you can purchase a permit for up to three other hunters without needing to enter the queue again as long as the transaction is complete within 25 minutes.

Reminder: Either-Sex Hunting in Designated WMDs
In Wildlife Management Districts 21-25 and 29, hunters may harvest one deer, either antlered or antlerless, under the authority of their big game hunting license during the firearms and muzzleloader seasons. This deer counts as the hunter's one deer for the year. If a hunter wants to take an additional deer, an antlerless deer permit is required.
Either-sex hunting is also permitted during the youth hunt (October 24 and 25, 2025) and regular archery season statewide. Learn more. [ [link removed] ]
