New York Times ([link removed]) (9/10/25) reports: "Energy Secretary Chris Wright and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum defended the Trump administration’s pivot away from renewable energy in Italy on Wednesday, saying their plans to sharply expand U.S. fossil fuel exports were crucial to 'peace and prosperity.' The secretaries are swinging through Europe this week on a mission to secure contracts to sell more American fossil fuels and lobby the European Union to loosen environmental regulations that they have said are too onerous. As part of the European Union’s trade deal with the Trump administration, the 27-country bloc agreed to purchase $750 billion of American energy, mostly oil and gas, over the course of President Trump’s term in office. Mr. Burgum said that such 'climate ideology' had infiltrated Western policymaking and required reversal if Western countries were to compete with adversaries on artificial intelligence,
which he cast as a more pressing concern than climate change."

Conflicts of interest. Financial mismanagement. Oversight failures. Who could have possibly guessed that?

(9/11/25) reports: "Republicans from the House Oversight Committee released a report outlining what they allege are conflicts of interest, financial mismanagement and oversight failures associated with a Biden-era green energy grant program that sent $20 billion to just 8 different nonprofits. The money stems from the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, which budgeted roughly $27 billion to advance clean energy and 'environmental justice' under the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF). An undercover recording of a former Biden Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) political appointee, who described disbursements made through GGRF as akin to tossing gold bars off the Titanic at the end of Biden's term, was cited by EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin in February when he announced that the agency would be looking into the matter."

(9/11/25) reports: "Canada's government is in discussions with energy companies and Alberta about eliminating a federal cap on emissions from the country's oil and gas sector if the industry and province reduce their carbon footprint in other ways, three sources with knowledge of the talks said.
The sources, who were not authorized to speak publicly about the discussions, said Prime Minister Mark Carney's government has discussed removing the cap with oil companies and Canada's top oil-producing province if they make other environmental concessions. Canada's emissions cap has not yet been implemented through legislation. But the prospect of it has been broadly condemned by Canadian oil and gas companies who have said it will force them to cut production. Carney, who won an election in April promising to protect Canada's economy from U.S. tariffs, has faced some criticism for stepping away from his Liberal Party's previous emphasis on the environment."
Looks like radical greens are finally in retreat.

In an ideal world, long-trusted energy mainstays and 'renewables' would work hand-in-hand, with wind and solar companies spending the coming decades sorting out their economic and technological challenges while at the same time acting as energy supplements. Instead, they too often wage all-out war on traditional energy, demanding immediate surrender. That’s why, for the sake of consumers everywhere, lawmakers who care about affordable and reliable energy must mount a vigorous defense against the assault from the radical 'green' movement."
