As soon as President Trump signed an unconstitutional law to "defund" Planned Parenthood health centers, we filed a lawsuit to protect patient care. It worked — temporarily — and Planned Parenthood health centers were able to continue providing care to patients who rely on Medicaid.
But yesterday, a federal appeals court sided with the Trump administration and blocked patients from using Medicaid as insurance at Planned Parenthood health centers. This is a devastating blow to patients nationwide and will have immediate harmful consequences. As of now, care for more than 1.1 million patients is in limbo, and as many as 200 Planned Parenthood health centers are at risk of shutting down.
We are not done fighting this dangerous law, and Planned Parenthood health centers are doing everything they can to meet patient needs in this pivotal moment.
