Dear john,

This week, we witnessed horrific and painful reminders of the impact that gun violence has on our nation. No matter our views or our differences, politically motivated violence has no place in our democratic process. Charlie Kirk's loved ones are in my thoughts, as well as the students who were injured at Evergreen High School in Colorado. These senseless shootings and the subsequent threats of further violence made on HBCU campuses are dangerous examples of the current state of our country, and they must be condemned.

Last week, in response to the large-scale immigration raid at a battery facility in Ellabell, Georgia, I issued a joint statement with the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) and Georgia’s Congressional Delegation. These senseless actions rip apart families, hurt the economy, and undermine the trust of our global partners—we demand that the Trump Administration uphold due process for those impacted. Read our full statement here.

These difficult times underscore the need to amplify the good work still taking place in communities across America. I was honored this week to share the story of two local law enforcement officers, Sergeant Myesha Cooper and Officer Robert Johnson of the South Fulton Police Department, who recently saved a mother and her two children from an overturned vehicle. I expressed my gratitude to Sergeant Cooper and Officer Johnson from the House floor—take a look at my remarks below:

I am pleased to announce a date for my upcoming Vietnam War 50th Commemoration Pinning Ceremony. On Saturday, November 1st, my office will host my final pinning ceremony of the commemoration period. Because this will be the last opportunity to host a ceremony during the designated commemoration period, I remain focused on making sure that every Vietnam veteran or surviving family member of a veteran in my district is publicly recognized for their service to our country. If you are a Vietnam War era veteran or surviving family member, please apply to be recognized. To apply, click here or on the image below. A member of my staff will be in contact with all eligible applicants to share more information about the time and location of our November 1st ceremony.

Are you a Vietnam War era veteran? Congresswoman Lucy McBath invites you to apply to be recognized in a ceremony commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War. This ceremony will take place in late fall of 2025. All eligible applicants will be contacted upon submission of their application. Click this image to access the application form. Question? Call (470) 773-6330 or visit mcbath.house.gov.

Thank you for taking the time to stay up to date with my office. Please stay in touch and do not hesitate to reach out if my staff and I can assist you with any federal issues.

Sincerely,
